Die Gruppe Boney M. war sehr beliebt mit all ihren Liedern und war um 1970 ff Jahre. Bei dem Lied "Brown Girl in the Rain" handelt es sich um einen Kinderreigen. 1978 ist es durch Boney M. bekannt geworden. Die Kinder bilden eine Kreis, klatschen oder nehmen sich an der Hand. Das Lied stammt vermutlich aus Jamaika. Hinweisen möchte ich auf das Weihnachtslied vom November 1978 Mary’s Boy Child Jesus Christ.
Wer Boney M. ist, das weiß doch bestimmt noch ein jeder von damals: Boney M. ist eine von F....... produzierte Disco-Formation, die vor allem in den 1970er Jahren international Erfolge mit Stücken wie Daddy Cool, Rivers of Babylon und Ma Baker hatte. The traditional Caribbean children’s game Brown Girl In The Ring is one of such games, where a girl or a boy (in which case the chorus becomes “Brown boy in the ring”) walks or skips in the middle to the rhythm of the song. When the child is asked to show their motion, the child displays their favorite dance. Other versions of the song include “show me your partner”, where the person in the middle chooses someone from the ring to join in with them.
Bei der zweiten Strophe, beginnend mit „Show me your
motion“, zeigt das Kind seine besonderen Tanzfiguren.
Mit der 3.Strophe soll es einen Tanzpartner wählen und ist danach das neue Brown Girl oder "Brown Boy"
