Thomas Tallis lebte von 1505 bis 23.11.1585. Er war Organist of the Royal Chapels to King Henry VIII, King Edward VI, Queen Mary, and Queen Elizabeth. Er war einer der am meist geschätzten Kirchenmusiker und komponierte als erster mit seinem hoch angesehenen Lehrer William Bird den musikalischen Teil unseres Gottesdienstes in englischer Sprache.
